Rescue Groups in and Around Austin, Texas

Austin Boxer Rescue - - located in Austin Texas, is a non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers who are dedicated to removing dogs from bad situations and placing them into loving permanent homes.

Austin Dog Alliance - - a non-profit organization, strives to improve the health and well being of individuals and families through programs incorporating the powerful connection between dogs and humans.

Austin Dog Rescue - - a home-based, all volunteer, foster home program. Since their inception they have assisted almost 1000 homeless dogs throughout the Central Texas area by careful placement and commitment to being their dog's lifelong advocate.

Austin German Shepherd Rescue - - Volunteers from the Austin, San Antonio and Houston area rescue and foster all of their dogs. AGSDR is a group of volunteers, animal lovers like yourselves; volunteers with a shared mission -- to care for and protect, adopt out, and keep German Shepherd Dogs safe from harm whenever possible.

Austin Greyhound Adoption - - The primary objectives and purposes of this organization shall be to find responsible loving homes for purebred greyhounds which fail to qualify for the racetrack or no longer qualify for the racetrack, to acquaint the public with the desirability of greyhounds as pets, and to inform the public of the availability of these dogs for adoption.

Austin Pets Alive - - Through volunteers and fosters they promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals.

Austin Sheltie Rescue Group - - Is the result of a cooperative effort by people in the Central Texas area to find permanent loving homes for abandoned, stray, or unwanted Shetland Sheepdogs. The dogs live in foster homes where they receive medical attention and opportunities to interact with people and other animals until they can be matched with a "forever" home.

Austin Siamese Rescue - - Founded on the belief that all life should be valued and treated with dignity and respect, Austin Siamese Rescue, Inc. has a long-term commitment to responsible rescue, rehabilitation and the re-homing of Siamese cats and their non-Siamese companions in the Central Texas area.

AY Chihuahua Rescue - - Ay Chihuahua Rescue is an all volunteer-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of the Chihuahua breed.

Blue Dog Rescue - - Blue Dog Rescue is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to end the needless killing of homeless dogs, they take only those animals who are in danger of being euthanized. Is a non-profit corporation, funded by donations, fundraisers, and adoption fees, that works to find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in the Central Texas area.

Central Texas Dachshund Rescue - - Central Texas Dachshund Rescue is a non-profit organization that rehabilitates and rehomes dachshunds in need of a second chance at life.

Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Austin/San Antonio - - Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Austin / San Antonio is a all-volunteer nonprofit organization working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cocker spaniels in central Texas (and sometimes beyond).

Happy Endings Dog Rescue - - Happy Endings Dog Rescue is a no-kill shelter, specializing in the rescue of large breed dogs, particularly Rottweilers and Pit Bulls. We provide our dogs with a stimulating environment, superior diet and excellent medical care while preparing them to enter the community. Our goal is to have them become members of loving and responsible households.

Heart of Texas Lab Rescue - - The Heart of Texas Lab Rescue is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization based in Austin, Texas. Our mission is to rescue Labrador Retrievers from shelters, pounds, abandonment, and other situations, and place them in loving, caring homes.

Hound Rescue - - They are a small group of individuals who foster dogs in their homes. Their beagles come from high-kill facilities where they were scheduled to be euthanized.

Lil Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws - - Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws exists to rescue, rehabilitate, and carefully rehome neglected and homeless maltese and other small dogs. They are a non-profit rescue group run entirely by a small group of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the welfare of these dogs.

Love-A-Bull - - Love-A-Bull was organized to educate and to advocate on behalf of the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the Staffordshire Terrier, and Bull Terrier. The mission of Love-A-Bull is to promote responsible guardianship and improve the image and lives of pit bull type dogs through education, advocacy, and rescue.

Lucky Mutts Rescue - - Lucky Mutts is a non profit volunteer corporation dedicated to educating the public on responsible pet ownership to help prevent the needless killing of dogs at shelters. They are also a foster network that adopts mutts to lucky people.

Maine Coon Rescue Alliance - Maine Coon Rescue Alliance is a non-profit organization staffed solely by volunteers.  Their mission is to rescue, foster, and place Maine Coons and Maine Coon mixes in carefully screened homes.

PAWS of Austin - - PAWS' mission is to prevent cruelty to all animals by promoting humane standards through education and example, to provide care and shelter for homeless animals, aid in the reduction of domestic animal overpopulation, and aid in the enforcement of laws, including the investigation of animal cruelty and abuse. Their main goal is to provide the best possible care for the animals while in their custody and finding them new permanent, loving homes.

Pug Rescue of Austin - - Pug Rescue of Austin is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of abused, neglected and unwanted pugs. They do not discriminate on the basis of health or age.

Rescuties - - They are an animal rescue in Austin, Texas, dedicated to ending the euthanization of adoptable animals in the city, state, and nation. They rescue cats, particularly "high-risk" cats, such as young kittens, elderly cats, and special needs cats, from various high-kill shelters in the Central Texas area.  Before they consider them adoptable, they undergo thorough vetting.

Tuxedo Junction Rescue - - Tuxedo Junction Rescue is a no-kill rescue organization dedicated to providing tender care and permanent placement into loving homes for cats at risk for shelter euthanasia in Austin, Texas. They usually rescue black and white ("tuxedo") and black cats because of their historic difficulty in being placed through shelters.  

Vision Hills Sanctuary - - Vision Hills Sanctuary is a non-profit corporation located in Austin, Texas. Vision Hills Sanctuary's goal is to ensure all animals a life that is free from suffering and pain through education and awareness, and working toward the continuing prevention of unwanted animals through spay/neutering, and to provide as many as possible with a permanent, quality home.

Wee Rescue, Incorporated - - Wee Rescue is an Austin, Texas based non-profit, all-volunteer organization that rescues Pekingese, Lhasa Apsos, and Shih Tzus that are unwanted or neglected dogs, regardless of age or medical condition. They only adopt to loving families in the Austin area.
